Eric Zunouh Banye

Eric Zunouh Banye is an international development management professional with more than 17 years of development work experience in programmes and project designs and management, institutional capacity development, value chain development, inclusive business development, Small and Medium Enterprise development, trade and market facilitation, agribusiness investment, policy development and advocacy, Public-Private Partnership (PPPs), multi-stakeholder partnership (MSPs) and gender mainstreaming at a senior level. Banye has primarily been involved in the design and implementation of projects in Food and Nutrition Security, WASH, Renewable Energy, Climate Smart Agriculture, Community Infrastructural development, Women and Youth empowerment, Financial Technology, Policy Advocacy, and Institutional Capacity Strengthening, Feasibility and End line evaluation. He has implemented multi-country projects including Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Honduras, Indonesia, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger. He has experience in several value chains including cocoa, shea, oil palm, coffee, maize, rice, soybean, sorghum, baobab, honey, poultry, fruits and vegetables and non-Forest Timber products value chains.

He is currently the Country Coordinator United Nations Industrial Development Organization-UNIDO, Ghana responsible for an EU-funded ACP-Business Friendly Programme implemented in cooperation with the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS). He is mainly in charge of managing the country programme which involves capacity building and strengthening of National and Regional Investment Promotion Institutions, business support programmes, marketing, and partnerships to attract Foreign Direct Investments. Prior to this, he worked with SNV-Netherlands Development Organization as the Country Sector Leader for Agriculture and also doubled as the Country Coordinator for the Voice for Change Partnership programme, overseeing the implementation of the country Agriculture projects; technically, managerially and administratively.

Mr Banye has provided leadership and content knowledge for the development and implementation of programmes in West and East African countries mainly; Mali, Burkina Faso, Benin, Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia. He was a member of the SNV Global Agric Strategy Development Team in which he supported the development of the global Agric strategy. In Ghana, he provided leadership, management and project development support to the country team of 58 staff. He strengthened the capacities of 16 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and 38 District Assemblies and 11 Ministries in Ghana. As the Country Sector Leader for the Agricultural Sector for SNV Ghana, he led the development of the Agric sector projects and engaged strategic partners and donors. He provided technical and strategic direction to the country Agric programme for the mobilization of 34.8 million US dollars for 6 projects. He was also responsible for the overall project management, administration and implementation of the 6 (twelve) different projects in the Agricultural sector. Mr. Banye has implemented projects funded by EU, IFAD/AfDB, DGIS, USAID, DFID, ICCO, World Bank, B&M Gates Foundation, and Private Sector funding.

He holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees both from the University of Ghana, a professional doctorate from the Institute of Project Management Professionals, Ghana. He is a certified Project Manager from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the licensed Project Manager from the Institute of Project Management Professionals, Ghana (IPMP). He is currently a PhD Candidate in Project Management at GIMPA-Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. He is currently a Fellow of the Institute of Project Management Professionals (FPMP), a Member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and a Member of the Institute of Directors (MIoD). He is an adept communicator, result-oriented, analytical with a strong team spirit. He is computer literate with basic knowledge of French.
